About Miss Rebecca Morrell

Miss Morrell trained in medicine at Newcastle University and completed her higher orthopaedic training on the Northern rotation. She then held a national fellowship in orthoplastic hand and wrist surgery at Newcastle Hospitals, and spent a further fellowship year in a specialist hand unit in Australia.
She has been a consultant at Northumbria since 2023, where she is Clinical Lead for Hand and Wrist, and sees all hand and wrist conditions, both electively and in her trauma role. Her particular interests are scaphoid fractures, thumb base replacements and Dupuytren's surgery.
Away from work she runs, cycles and lifts weights, so she knows how much an active life depends on hands that work. The goal of treatment is getting you back to the things you enjoy.

Referrals are accepted from GPs, physiotherapists, hand therapists and insurers, and you can also refer yourself directly. If you are using private medical insurance, check your policy first, as some insurers require a GP referral before they authorise a consultation.

Miss Morrell is recognised by the major UK private medical insurers, including Bupa, AXA Health, Aviva, Vitality, WPA and Healix. Consultation fees are set at insurer-approved rates, so there is no unexpected top-up to pay.
